At Stitch and Bake, everything I do—whether baking or crocheting —is about connection. It connects me to my family (past and present), my community, and myself.
Baking has always been my way of showing love and bringing people together. Nothing makes me happier than when I can cook and bake for my family and friends. During the pandemic, I set a personal goal to perfect homemade cinnamon rolls for them. After lots of research, recipe testing, and taste-testing, we agreed that my milk bread cinnamon rolls are the best. They are soft, goey, and stay that way longer than other recipes I tried.
Crocheting connects me to my late aunt, who was an incredible crocheter. She taught me the basics but I never quite stuck with it until the summer of 2024. I gave it another shot an crocheted a heart. It wasn’t perfect, but I pinned it to my work bag as a reminder to keep going. Now, putting down the crochet hook to do other things is the challenge! It’s helped me reconnect with my creativity and myself in ways I never expected. I love experimenting with different yarns, incorporating embroidery and beading. I feel most like an artist when crocheting mosaics and nature scenes or when I can give a colorful crochet facelift to thrifted clothing.
At one of my first markets in 2025, a woman stopped by my booth and gave the best compliment:
“Everything here just feels like love.” Connection and love are exactly what I hope to share through Stitch and Bake. In today’s world, we all need more love and connection—whether it’s with others, with ourselves, or within our community.
I look forward to connecting with you.

Inspired by important women in my life

A good, old fashioned traditional cinnamon roll with cream cheese icing. My Aunt Charlotte is the inspiration for this roll. For years, if it was noon on a Sunday, anywhere from 5 to 50 people would be gathered at her house for a homemade meal. (And she is the aunt who taught me to crochet!)

A delicious orange cinnamon roll topped with an orange glaze. It has the perfect amount of natural orange flavor. Named after my husband's grandma who made an orange cake that he still talks about today.

A chocolate cinnamon roll with an espresso glaze. Just like chocolate, my sister Beverly makes everything better. She and I were matched through Big Brothers, Big Sisters over 40 years ago!

The vintage combination of cinnamon and raisins with a cream cheese icing. For my beloved mom who was a single mom, strong, and loving. She worked a lot during the week as one of the first female bus drivers in our town. On weekends, I would get to spend the most time with her and we would often go to Hardees for her favorite--the cinnamon raisin biscuit.
